Business Day 1: Getting Started - Planning - Keyword Research
So, day 1……. Already!
I’ve started making preparations for my new Internet marketing business today. I’ve always thought it to be important to be well prepared. Actually, that’s not quite true. There have been a few instances where I have jumped straight into what I thought was a good idea - only to find that it was always doomed to be a complete failure!
Fail to Plan, and you Plan to Fail
That simple phrase is my new motto! Without a plan I will get nowhere. How could I expect to make any progress if I don’t even know where I’m heading.
I started the day with some reading. As previously mentioned I recently signed up to a membership at The Niche Blogger. Amy Bass runs the site and she has a lot to share. She has worked her way up to a residual $5000+ monthly income through blogging alone. She is a true inspiration to us all.
I will always pay attention to someone who has achieved this kind of success. Even if she could teach me one thing, then it’s worth it. There are too many arrogant people who will choose not to accept any help. To me that’s crazy.
Amy’s Niche Blogger Membership is proving to be a very worthwhile membership. I use Wordpress on the majority of my sites. Google loves it, and it’s so easy to work with. But, even an experienced Wordpress user like me has learned some new tricks. She leaves nothing out, and can’t wait to work my way through the course. She promises to show her students how to be making a profit within two months - and I will certainly be paying attention to everything she has to say.
The only negative from this, is that I spent far too much time reading through her course than I should have. I got so engrossed in her lessons that I left very little time to work on my business!
One very useful lesson I read today taught me how to effectively find a niche market using keyword research. Therefore I have spent two hours investigating various niches. I have come up with several possibilities - including the fear of flying.
Being cabin crew myself I feel that I can adequately explain flying, and help others get over their fear. Although I’m not an expert in psychology, I think I could be an asset to anyone looking for advice with regards to this subject. I have decided to research this in more depth later on this evening. Not too late though, as I have to get up at 4am tomorrow morning for the ‘day job’!
I have also spent some time on this very blog. Whereas it’s not my ultimate goal to make this blog my business, it only makes sense to try and monetise it. A few ads, a few affiliate links and a nicely presented theme and I think I’ve done an effective job. Anyone who writes a blog and is not placing some form of advertising on it is almost literally throwing money away.
I hope you like the way the blog looks, and do not find the ads intrusive. I think it’s important to ensure adverts are not to invasive. It makes the whole site look spammy - and I certainly don’t want that. It doesn’t encourage return visitors that’s for sure.
Anyway, best get back to work. May get back to you later with some more updates……..
