November was a month of discovery for me. I spent the majority of the month researching, and preparing for my new niche business. Whereas I am relatively happy with the results, I am disappointed that I failed to hit the majority of the goals I set myself. 

Firstly, here is my monthly profit & loss account!

I earned $180.25 in total.

My business expenses were: $135.01. This includes membership sites, hosting, and any products I paid for. As mentioned, I incurred a one off payment of $5 for a social bookmarking service, and $17 for the logo at FlyingFear.net.

This results in a profit of $45.24

It’s low - but much better than a loss. I’m not leaving the day job just yet though!

So, time to set some goals for December. I don’t really want to set financial goals, as I know that all I need to do is build my business to increase the financial side of things. Profit is purely a by-product of success.

30 articles for FlyingFear.net
10 articles for SelfImprovementBasics.com
10 articles for Recommended-Sites.co.uk

I aim to be generating 20 visitors per day to FlyingFear.net

I need to purchase a generic domain name to enable more blogs to be started in new niches.

I need to start a Christmas blog. Seasonal, but potentially profitable.

I aim to get at least 5 members to ProNitroBlogger.com

I aim to sell $100 worth of products.

In the last week I’ve been concentrating on creating as much content as possible for FlyingFear.net. Therefore I’ve been researching, writing, and scheduling posts. My main aim at the site is to provide the ultimate free course for fearful fliers, so I’ve started to put together a plan detailing the course as I would like it be delivered. 

Having a plan is essential, so I really do not mind spending quality time on this. But - there is a limit! It’s very easy to fall into the ‘lack of action’ category. If you are gonna trust me with anything, then let it be this;

You are not going to be successful without taking action! Success does not find you - you must go in search of it.

I have found a couple of great sites this week. The first is a self growth giveaway site. I’m really getting into self improvement so this was definitely welcomed. If you want to grab the free goodies for yourself, click here.

I’ve also started to research Neuro-Linguistic Programming this week after I purchased a great introduction book on Amazon. The book is called Introducing NLP Neuro-Linguistic Programming and although it’s a book that requires complete concentration - it’s definitely an eye opener.

I’ve been wanting to get some insight into NLP for a while now, as I really believe the skills will boost my level of success. Being able to control your own mind - as well as other people’s - can be a distinct advantage in business, and general life. So far, the book has been brilliant - and definitley recommended!

Ok, that’s it for now. I’ve got to get back to writing. Tomorrow I’ll be posting my earnings summary for November (and expenses). I’ve decided to do this monthly as a guide to the success I’m experiencing at any given time.

My main concentration has been writing articles for FlyingFear.net. I’m really getting into this niche right now - and pleased to have found something that I really enjoy talking about! Me and flying just go together, and have done since I was a very little boy! 

As things stand, there are 8 posts published at the site, and 5 that are scheduled to publish between now and December 1st.

I have idea after idea for articles - but I do keep forgetting to refer back to my keyword research. I’ve noticed a couple of articles that don’t have any highly searched phrases in them. I’m not that bothered, but need to make sure I don’t make a habit of it - or nobody will ever visit the site!

I ordered a fellow Niche Blogger member’s social bookmarking service. For just $5 he submitted FlyingFear.net to approx 15 sites. I did get some traffic from StumbleUpon almost immediately - but that is NOT why I wanted this site submitted.

Normally, StumbleUpon traffic is pointless. They tend to not take action, or stay on your site for long. Funny, viral sites may do well here - but most don’t.

But, all these submissions result in a links to FlyingFear.net from popular, authority sites - and that’s worth ten times more than the 200 visitors that StumbleUpon sent me

The other expense I’ve accrued is a $17 payment for a custom logo for the site. It’s worth it though, as the site looks much more professional now.

Ok, back to writing articles now. My goal is to write 10 more articles today………

Oh, I do seem to be doing this a lot lately……. Missing goals that is!

I’m glad I chose to write this blog as a record of all I achieve. In the future, when I’m earning a great online income, I can look back and laugh at how I wasted so much time in the process.

But, right now, I’m not laughing. I have a business to build - and I’m just not building it quickly (and efficiently) enough.

So, I’m giving myself a big public telling off!  

I have managed to write just two articles today. In my opinion, they ARE good articles - but I should have completed more. Both articles are for FlyingFear.net, and they are scheduled to be published over the next 3 days. Hands-free blogging. You gotta love it!

I may just stay up all night to write more articles. It’s 1.30am here right now, but I’m off from my day-job until the 26th November. Ok, decision made. I’m not sleeping until at least 3 more articles are completed.

I wanted to share a quick Firefox add-on today. I have never heard of it, until Amy Bass introduced it to me as part of The Niche Blogger course - and it’s proving to be VERY useful.

It’s called Zemanta. After you install it, nothing changes until you next log in to your blog’s admin, and go to write a post. You will see Zemanta open up in your sidebar. When you write a post, it suggests related articles, links, images, and tags to use in your post.

You may also have noticed the ‘REBLOG’ button at the bottom of this post. Click on it, and see what happens. It’s a great tool, and use it for every post now. Click Here to Get It Now.

Anyway, I’m going for a quick cigarette (bad habit - I know), and then I’m going to focus on writing these articles.

As things stand I have four articles published at the site, and one scheduled to automatically post tomorrow morning.

When using Wordpress, you can either publish an article immediately - OR set it to be published at a date and time of your choice. This is great for posting regularly - especially when you have other commitments.

To use this feature, when you have completed your post, click on edit where you see ‘publish immediately’ - and you will be able to select your time & date as necessary.

Tomorrow, my aim is to write five more articles for the site, as well as one each for my other sites at Recommended-Sites.co.uk and SelfImprovementBasics.com

A busy day tomorrow then! I do need to get used to writing articles a bit quicker though, and they say that practise makes perfect!

Today, I plan to write at least 10 articles for my FlyingFear.net site, and schedule them in. I have uploaded my Wordpress theme to the site, and need to edit it before I remove the index.html page that is being shown right now.

Writing articles is not easy for the first few attempts, but after a whle it becomes a lot more simple. I try and follow the tips in this article writing guide, and it speeds me up a little. Despite this, I do not enjoy writing articles and plan to outsource this as soon as I’m making enough profit.

Unfortunately though, when starting out the nitty gritty jobs have to be done by me (or you for your business). Unless, of course, you have a large budget.

It’s actually my week anniversary for this blog - and my new business. So, I’m going to share my weekly income with you. It’s minimal - but I haven’t even started yet. In fact, all income has come from sites I owned previously. If I record these incomes weekly, I can look back and guage how I’m doing.

Later on today I will set up a page purely for recording these earnings. But for now;

Must sleep. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as I have some catching up to do.

Firstly, apologies for not posting yesterday. Every now and then I have a day where I turn on my laptop with the aim of getting work done, only to find that 4 hours later I’ve achieved nothing. Somehow I get sidetracked, and end up wasting time browsing the Internet.

Yesterday evening I somehow managed to spend far too much time reading The Niche Blogger forum. Whereas it was interesting to see how others are doing, and what problems they are facing, it was definitely not helping me to achieve my goals.

As previously mentioned, I have my site ready to go at FlyingFear.net - and I’m excited by it. But I still haven’t written ANY content for the site.

I spent too much time yesterday trying to decide on the theme. I think I may go ahead and purchase WP Remix as the ability to customise looks pretty incredible.

However, I may use the theme I use at this site to begin with - but in red. Can you tell I’m still undecided?!

I just really want this site to work. It;s possibly the first time I have properly researched keywords, and am confident the site will be a success.

One thing is certain though; I will not make it a success by not taking ACTION!

I need to keep telling myself this, as sometimes I do seem to forget this very basic fact. Those articles are not going to write themselves. I can’t make money with this site until I actually do something with it!

So, I’m off to lie in bed now - but I’m taking a notepad and pen with me. I will not allow myself to sleep until I have written at least 2 articles.

I will set up Wordpress on FlyingFear.net tomorrow, and post the first article. I’ll speak to you when I’ve achieved this, and maybe you can comment on how it looks.

My first goal was to complete my keyword research for the fear of flying niche. I completed this task and then exceeded it. After fully analysing the niche by using the method Amy Bass teaches brilliantly at The Niche Blogger, I decided that it IS a niche I could do well with.

With my pretty extensive experience with and knowledge of all things related to flying, I can make a difference here. The keyword phrases I have researched do have competition - but not unbeatable competition. The majority of other sites in this niche appear to be run by airline pilots. Whereas pilots do have a lot to offer, it would be good to hear the flight attendant’s view. After all, we are the ones in the cabin with the passengers throughout the flight.

I’ve managed to find a domain name that’s available for a relatively highly searched for phrase. So, my new site will be ……. drumroll please ………. FlyingFear.net.

The domain name is NOT perfect, but is as close to it as I can get. The most popular domain extension is .com, but .net does pretty well too - with search engines and Internet users alike.

So, I’m now very excited. The research did take approx 3 hours (and there is more to come), but it was worth it. I now have a great domain name, and a chosen niche that I can really ‘get my teeth’ into.

I’ve sorted out my web hosting. Although I use HostGator.com, I also have a reseller account - where one day I plan to sell basic web hosting, or possibly give away with a membership site - and I’ve set up the domain name there. That was about 2 hours ago, so now I’m just waiting for the domain DNS settings to propogate the Internet…..

Sorry - techy talk there. I have learned some tech talk in the last year or so! The DNS settings basically point your domain to your web hosting account, so that when someone actually types in your domain name, they arrive at your site. Don’t ask me how it works, but that’s what it means!!

That should all be done by the time I crawl out of bed tomorrow morning, so then I can get to work on the site. My basic plan is to start by posting a one page article on the homepage, explaining what the site will be covering, and asking any visitors to post their main fears with regards to flying on the site - or to my email. I need to start researching what nervous flyers are really scared of, so that I can ensure I cover the topics that are important to them. Keyword research is only half the story - I need real hard facts.

Working in the industry I am in a prime position to research further. I’m sure any passenger that informs they are a nervous flyer will not mind me asking them a few questions as research for my new site. Good way to get some initial free advertising too.

So, that is what I have achieved today. I have registered my domain name, set up the hosting account, and started to plan the content for the site. I’ve even drafted some future article titles to post, based on the popular keyword searches.

I’m off to bed now though…….. One more quick thing, if any of you ever have any questions regarding what I’m doing, or talking about here, then feel free to ask. In fact, any Internet marketing question you have. If I do not know the answer, I’ll tell you where to go to find out. At the very least I can point you in the right direction.

Tiredness has set in. I’ve been up for 20 hours after only having 2 hours sleep, and I’m struggling to function. So, it’s time to give in to my basic human requirements- SLEEP.

Firstly, I wanted to go over a few goals that I have set myself for tomorrow. As I only have a relatively short day at work tomorrow - and aim to get a good night’s sleep tonight - I should be more focused, and motivated to do some real work on my business.

So, tomorrow’s goals are (in no particular order);

• Niche Keyword Research -> I simply have to get this done, as my business will be going nowhere fast until I actually identify the direction I’m heading in. I’ve spent far too much time on this site in the last couple of days, and trying to find the best plan to monetise it, that I’ve lost sight of my REAL business.
• Post One Article @ SelfImprovementBasics.com -> Not much else to say here. I need to write an article.
• Post One Article @ Recommended-Sites.co.uk -> Same as above
• Write One Article For Submission To EzineArticles.com -> Need to write a better quality article promoting ProNitroBlogger.com in order to gain more exposure. As I write this, the only member of the site is ……. moi!! The longer this continues the more money I’m losing as it’s costing me $47 (£35 approx) to get the PLR articles that I make available to my members.

That should do it to start with. Now though, time for sleep. Goodnight all.
